Home > The Nicky Byrne Show > 1st anniversary of The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene – 03.03.2015
Nicky’s radio show, The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene, is one year old. So Nicky & Jenny celebrated one year on air with a live broadcast from The Bridge Bar in Dublin.
You can listen back today’s show here.
Happy Birthday to the show! 😀
The radio host has hit back at radio stars that said his show would never work.
Nicky Byrne has revealed other radio presenters thought his 2fm show would be a disaster.
The former Westlife star has said he has finally proved his critics wrong – as he is set to celebrate one year on air next week with co-host Jenny Greene.
After winning the ratings battles in the last few JNLR figure releases, Nicky is quickly becoming radio’s biggest stars.
“Some other presenters on other stations who have less listeners than us said this would be a disaster,” Nicky admitted.
Unfortunately, the Dubliner didn’t name names, but hinted that a male DJ had tried to put him down.
“Can I say it? I don’t care. What was his name again? I actually can’t even remember his name,” he said.
“Someone from another radio station said something bad about us? That can’t be true,” co-host Jenny laughed.
It isn’t the first time the ex-boybander has been faced with criticism since he made the transition from music to radio.
Nicky felt pressure from listeners over his presenting skills in the shows early days but insisted the digs didn’t bother him.
“You can’t keep everybody happy – when you do a job in public life people have their opinions and you are going to get a bit of stick here and there.”
The Nicky Byrne Show and Skoda teamed up to give one lucky 2fm listener a brand new car!
You can listen back the first show here:

Shane Filan just joined Nicky and Jenny in studio for a bit of a mini Westlife reunion!

The 2FM star took home the gong just months after starting at the station.
Former Westlife star Nicky Byrne was in a world of his own last night – after winning a top radio award.
The 2FM presenter won the Best Newcomer gong at the prestigious PPI Radio Awards, just months after starting on the station.
It was a massive coup for the Nicky Byrne Show host, whose three hour show has now become the most listened to programme on the station.
However the RTE star didn’t managed to win both of the gongs he was up for – with Dermot and Dave taking home Best Music Programme.
Initially after being nominated, Nicky said he was “beyond chuffed” to just be nominated.
He said: “I’m beyond chuffed with the two nominations for the show. Jenny, along with producer Al, Lindy and Kate have become my on-air family.”
